WEBMASTER's CHALLENGE
There have been 110 editions of the "Featured Stein", or "Stein of the Month", on this web site since the feature was instituted in August of 1999 through August 2008. Three people account for 88 of those articles, the majority of them contributed by our previous webmaster, Walt Vogdes. I have neither Walt's knowledge of steins nor his literary talent, and doubt whether I can keep this feature going on my own as Walt did in the past. I believe that a new and interesting "Featured Stein" article each month is important to demonstrate the vitality of this web site. Below is the challenge I issued in the January issue of "Chapter  & Verse:"

My second goal is to encourage more chapter/member participation in the web site. In the last Chapter & Verse I made a plea for more input to the chapters page, the show and tell page ,and the monthly featured stein article. So far the response has been under whelming. So now I am officially challenging each chapter to submit one featured stein article to me. There are enough wonderful steins and talented people out there so that this should not be a difficult task. The article can be submitted by an individual in the chapter or as a group effort by the chapter. I wish you all the best of luck and success in 2009.
If someone from each chapter would submit one article for the monthly "Featured Stein" the feature would be covered for over two years. I would hate to have to start showing my small collection stein by stein, when there are hundreds of beautiful, interesting, and unique steins out there in the hands of the SCI membership.

The articles do not have to be literary masterpieces. All that is required is a nice picture or two and a paragraph or two describing the stein, and its history and background. Please email me with questions or articles at sci@steincollectors.org.
